The best time to visit is anytime, obviously!  Though, depending on your interests some seasons may suit you better than others.

Veysonnaz is probably best known as a ski resort, as it is part of the largest ski area in Switzerland.  The dry, cold climate means that snow conditions are generally very good, and there are lots of snow cannons just in case nature doesn't provide sufficient snow for skiing.  The main reason to visit Veysonnaz in winter is for downhill skiing, though there are other activities (winter walking, Nordic skiing, tubing) available too.  The ski season starts in mid-December and runs through to mid-April.  During this period the resort is at its busiest, though it still retains its small, peaceful resort charm.

In late-April, May and June, the resort is quiet, but this is a great time to visit to enjoy the excellent walking routes that the "bisse" and other footpaths offer.  May and June are probably the driest months in the year.  The trails are relatively quiet and the wildflower meadows are at their best.  Also, with the high mountains still covered in snow the views are spectacular.  This is an ideal time to spend a relaxing long weekend enjoying the clean air and the mountain views.

July and August are the main summer tourist season.  There are lots of outdoor activities organised in the resort, and the weather will be hot and sunny.  The resort gets more busy during the summer as there is a lot going on, but there are still plenty of places to go to find some peace and quiet.

We keep being told by locals that autumn in Valais is the best season - the grape and peach harvest means there is lots of good food to eat, the autumnal colours of the trees add to the already magnificent views, and the cool, clear air means that many of the hiking routes are at their best.  Again, this is a quiet season in the resort, so is an ideal time for a long weekend spent walking, wine-tasting and enjoying everything the harvest has to offer.
